Maresias
Maresias is São Sebastião's marquee break — a fast, powerful beach break on the São Paulo north coast that peaks into punchy, sometimes hollow a-frames over a sand bottom with rock at each end. It lights up on S/SE groundswells with N/NW offshores and is the competitive home beach of Brazil's pro scene, so the lineup is crowded and the standard is high. Best from autumn into winter (roughly April–September), with summer bringing smaller, more inconsistent pulses.

Not a raw-beginner peak when it's pumping — the main bank is powerful and busy. On small days there is a workable inside where local schools run learner lessons; genuine beginners are better off on the calmer sandbanks at nearby Guaecá or Camburi. Watch the rocks at the beach ends and the strong currents on bigger swells.
