Praia da Ferrugem
Praia da Ferrugem is Garopaba's most-surfed beach and one of the most consistent waves in Brazil — a roughly 1 km sand-bottom beach break whose north corner peels a hollow, fast right that draws the crowd, while the middle of the beach takes almost any swell. It holds clean, well-formed peaks up to head-high on a S/SE winter groundswell and tends to close out much beyond that.

In summer Ferrugem is a popular, forgiving learners' beach with wide, gentle inside reforms and a full cluster of surf schools working the sand. Watch for rip currents — there is a channel off the south corner — and heavier, punchier peaks on bigger winter swells; beginners should stay on the mellow middle and inside, ideally with a school.
