About this camp
The most structured learn-to-surf operation on the New South Wales south coast, and the one most Sydney beginners are pointed at. Camps run every weekend from Friday evening and every midweek from Monday morning, in four lengths: a 2-day Weekender, a 3-day Experience, a 5-day Ultimate Experience, and a 7-day Search that splits five days at Seven Mile Beach with two at Byron Bay. The 5-day is the flagship and is designed for absolute beginners — eight two-hour lessons, all meals buffet-style with vegetarian options, dorm accommodation at a purpose-built beachside camp, Rip Curl wetsuits and soft boards, and return transport from Sydney. Private-room upgrades at the separate Surf Camp House are available on request. The published rate for the 5-day is A$895 per person, 4 nights, all in; prices are in Australian dollars and are not converted here. Seven Mile Beach is the reason the camp works — a long, sandy, gently-shelving beach with no reef and no crowd pressure, which is a genuinely rare thing to have two hours from a capital city. It is not a wave for anyone past their first few sessions.
