Lagoinha do Leste
A protected bay on the south-east coast with no road to it, which is the entire reason it surfs the way it does. You arrive over the hill from Matadeiro — shorter but steep — or on a four-kilometre walk from Pântano do Sul, and the reward is short, heavy peaks with almost nobody on them on a day when the road-accessible beaches are full. Sources disagree on how to classify the wave: Surf-Forecast lists it as a beach break, Florianópolis Guide describes a point-style break. Both descriptions are on file rather than reconciled.

Not a beginner's beach, and the wave is only half the reason. There are no lifeguards, no facilities and no quick exit — the way out is the hour you walked in, carrying your board. The peaks are short and heavy. Come as a confident intermediate who can handle a powerful beach break, go with someone, and check the forecast before you commit to the walk rather than after.
Hazards
- no road access — reached on foot or by boat
- no lifeguard, no facilities, no phone signal
- heavy short-period peaks
- strong rips
- the walk out is the only way out
