Praia da Engenhoca
The gentlest of Itacaré's string of forest-backed beaches and its main longboard and beginner peak — a half-enclosed bay of clean, warm water reached by a ~20-minute walk through coconut groves and Atlantic rainforest. Engenhoca's waves are the fullest and slowest in the area yet still long and strong, with rights and lefts, an easy paddle-out and almost no current, and the bay is naturally sheltered from the northeast wind that blows through summer. It works on all tides, best on E–NE swell, and is consistent year-round with a solid winter S/SE window.

As beginner-friendly as Itacaré gets: slow, full waves, easy paddling and very little current, which is why the town's schools bring learners and longboarders here. The catch is access — there's a 20-minute forest trail in and no lifeguards or facilities on the beach, so come with a school or a group, bring water, and don't surf it alone.
