El Salvador
A dense run of right-hand point breaks within an hour of the airport. El Sunzal is one of Central America's friendliest points to learn on; Punta Roca, ten minutes away, is a world-class right that is anything but.
Why El Salvador
The coast is a conveyor belt of right-hand points, and the geography is unusually kind: you land at San Salvador and you can be in the water within an hour.
The range inside a few kilometres is the real draw. El Sunzal is a long, rolling, forgiving right — one of the best places in the Americas to have your first proper point-break session. Punta Roca, just up the coast at La Libertad, is a fast, hollow, world-class right that demands genuine ability. El Zonte and El Tunco sit in between, with El Tunco carrying most of the nightlife.

Water is boardshorts warm all year.
Getting around
Fly into San Salvador (SAL) — it's about 45 minutes to the coast. Most camps include the transfer. A car helps if you want to chase the points, but you can surf a whole trip on foot from El Tunco or El Sunzal.
