About this camp
Suits beginners and improvers who want a comfortable, self-contained base rather than a hostel: two-person bedrooms all have private bathrooms, and the week runs Saturday to Saturday with five surf lessons, a yoga session and meals included. The stand-out is the on-site training kit — an 18-metre pool, a 14-metre concrete skate wave and a smaller fibreglass wave for people still learning to pop up — so there is something to do on a flat day, which matters on an island this wind-exposed. Video analysis is offered as private coaching rather than baked into the group lessons. The honest downside is that Lajares is an inland village: every session is a ten-minute drive to the coast, so you are on the camp's transport schedule, and the north-shore reefs it serves are not beginner waves — first-timers are taken to the sandy beaches instead.
