About this camp
Batu Karas is the antidote to the rest of Indonesia: a sand-bottom right point with long, forgiving rides that is arguably one of the world's best places to learn, plus a reef right for when it gets bigger. JavaCove sits directly on it, with a pool, a well-reviewed breakfast and a deck over the bay, and it suits beginners, longboarders, families and anyone wanting a low-key week without a camp schedule. The honest downside matters and is stated plainly on their own site: there is no in-house surf programme. You arrange lessons with local instructors on arrival and rent boards from the village surf club. It is a great surf stay, not a coached camp.
