Surf Base Hostel (also Base Camp) has run in Itamambuca since 2018/19, a short walk from Ubatuba's best-known break. It is lodging-first and social — shared rooms and eco cabanas for up to ~40 guests, a skate ramp, slackline, hammocks, shared kitchen, bikes, yoga and fibre wifi. Surfboards are available to rent on site, and surf lessons/tips are arranged through the host (board rental is what the site itself headlines, so treat coaching as casual rather than a fixed curriculum). It suits independent beginners-to-intermediates who want a cheap, sociable base right by the wave more than a hand-held learning package.
