Surf At has taught on Praia das Maçãs and Praia Grande since 2013 and is certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation. Lessons move with the tide and swell — classes may run at either Sintra beach, or further afield at Cascais or Caparica when the coast is closed out. Group lessons are two hours at one instructor to five students; there are private lessons, children's classes, summer clinics and a guiding service for surfers who can already surf Praia Grande unaided. It is a school, not a camp: its multi-day packages include nights at partner accommodation nearby rather than a house of its own, so treat the week price as lessons-plus-a-bed-elsewhere.
