About this camp
Insider Surf sells a single product — a 7-day camp, 8 nights, one price — rather than a menu, and it is built around coaching rather than lodging. Head coach Ateng grew up in Gerupuk riding a plank of wood, was sponsored by Rip Curl through GromSearch at 15, and stayed in Lombok to coach instead of chasing a touring career. Groups are capped at nine with a stated 1:2 coach-to-student ratio, split into beginner-to-intermediate and intermediate-to-advanced tracks. The week runs two surf sessions a day (11-12 in total, with a rest day in the middle and beginners easing in with one session on day one), 4-9 theory lessons depending on level, and three photo-analysis sessions timed at the start, middle and end. Boat transport into Gerupuk bay is included rather than charged as an extra, which matters here — the bay holds up to seven breaks and you reach them by boat. Accommodation is the camp's own homestay a minute's walk from the water: private rooms only, double or twin, all with air conditioning and a private bathroom, plus a shared kitchen, a garden with hammocks, and wifi the camp explicitly pitches at people working remotely. Also included: 8 breakfasts, one open-fire BBQ dinner cooked by the coaches, rest-day excursions to waterfalls and Kuta, and a full quiver of boards. The only stated prerequisite is being able to swim in the ocean. Note that this is a one-package operation — there is no nightly room rate to book, and payment starts with a non-refundable IDR 4,500,000 deposit.
